Fear can creep up on us when we least expect it. Things like watching a loved one go through cancer treatment, or the potential of losing a job, having a miscarriage, or getting into a car accident. Unfortunately, there isn’t a limit to what our brains can create that is potentially fearful, some of it legitimate and some of it irrational. Either way, we can find hope and an anchor in the storm that is our fear in Jesus because he has a lot to say about fear in scripture. “Fear not…” is a common reminder in the Word, because we are often forgetful and we can try to imagine the future before it has even happened…leading to a lot of fear and anxiety. Jesus reminds us that we can trust God as our good Father. He will fight for us. He will cover us and protect us.

Stand Firm in the Lord There are commands in Scripture that are repeated many times. The call to ‘stand firm’ is one of those commands. It appears all throughout the Bible. Here are a few powerful verses in Scripture about standing firm:

– Ephesians 6:11 “Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.”

– Ephesians 6:13 “Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.”

– 1 Peter 5:9 “But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world.”

Be Courageous What does the Bible say about courage? In scripture, courage is also referred to as “good cheer” which means boldness and confidence. God commands us to fear not, to be of good cheer, and to have courage in our life. Sometimes we doubt our own strength and conviction but can turn to scripture for the encouragement to live in good cheer and trust in God.

The crucifixion of Jesus is recorded in the New Testament books, known as the Gospels – Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. This Bible story is the central summary of the saving Gospel of Jesus. Jesus had prophesied of his death in Matthew “from that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.” Jesus understood that his life would be required as a sacrifice for the sins of man.

The Prince of Peace

The New Testament teaches that the resurrection of Jesus is a foundation of the Christian faith. Christians, through faith in the working of God are spiritually resurrected with Jesus, and are redeemed so that they may walk in a new way of life.

For them the death of Jesus was part of a divine plan to save humanity. The death and resurrection of this one man is at the very heart of the Christian faith. For Christians it is through Jesus’s death that people’s broken relationship with God is restored. This is known as the Atonement.

The message of good news is described as the saving acts of God due to the work of Jesus on the cross and Jesus’ resurrection from the dead which bring reconciliation (“atonement”) between people and God.

Most of us don’t like rules. We don’t like being told what to do or when to do it or even how to do it. We like to be independent and make our own decisions. Why? Because we tend to believe that we know what’s best.

But want to know a little secret? Oftentimes, we have no idea what the best decision is. And we end up making mistake after mistake after mistake. That’s why God gives us truth and that’s why He convicts us to follow His word. So today, I want to share 5 bible verses on obedience. Check them out below!

Christ Jesus Transforms Us to be Authentic: Jesus Christ is All I Need

But Jesus Christ is all we need — and the reason is because He alone is the Son of God, sent from Heaven as God’s final sacrifice for our sins. Cults deny this, but the Bible is clear: “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

God’s Word is all-sufficient. All we need to know in order to receive salvation and live a godly life is found within its pages. May we not be led astray or deceived by individuals promoting anything else but God’s truth.
